He approaches each patient as an individual rather than a diagnosis, confidentiality is highly regarded and he personally returns all phone calls. His therapeutic methods include psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and supportive psychotherapy.

If medication is necessary, Dr. Garvin prefers to use non-addictive medications first. Initial appointments typically last between 60 and 90 minutes, with subsequent sessions ranging from 30 to 60 minutes based on individual needs. His fees average between $300 to $450.
